IDOLiSH7 Wikipedia page which does have details about Sougo's past. specifically that "He grew up in a wealthier family who disapproved of his love for music with the exception of his late uncle who inspired him to follow his dream of becoming an idol. Due to his rebellion, he is shown to have a strained relationship with his family."
All of the information available online is kind of scant though, so here's a summary of Sougo's part in the plot (I'm so sorry for the length! I tried to trim it down as much as I could!) :

• Part 1


• Sougo is scouted by Takanashi productions to be an idol


• Before the group has a chance to debut, Sougo is forced into a situation where he has to debut as a duo with Tamaki, partly to help Tamaki find his sister and to keep him from defecting to a rival company


• While working with Tamaki as MEZZO", Sougo takes on a lot of the managerial role, since their manager is often busy with IDOLiSH7's work


• IDOLiSH7 is offered a TV show, but the offer is suddenly rescinded by the sponsors of the station


• When Sougo learns that the FSC - the company run by his father - is the sponsor that pulled the plug on their show, the stress of that compiled on top of the stress of his work leads to him having an ulcer and being hospitalized and bedridden for a short time


• Sougo tries to back out of being in IDOLiSH7 since it's his presence that means the FSC won't sponsor their shows, but is quickly talked out of it


• He starts to prove his loyalty to Tamaki as his partner when Tamaki has a bad reaction to being faced with his father suddenly, comforting Tamaki and sticking up for his actions


• When he and Tamaki encounter the person who had been stealing their songs, Tamaki gets hit and Sougo snaps, picking up a computer tower to try and hit the man - he is only stopped by Tamaki grabbing him


• IDOLiSH7 does get a TV show with a station that is not influenced by the FSC and they win against their rivals TRIGGER at the Black or White competition


• Part 2


• The majority of Sougo's role in the second part revolves specifically around his relationship with Tamaki and the way that it grows and changes as he learns to deal more easily with his partner's quirks and comes to respect him a lot more


• Early on in the part, Sougo is approached by a young girl who asks him how Tamaki is doing - she will not explain who she is and runs away before he can ask anything else, dropping a clover-shaped keychain


• Sougo suspects that the girl might have been Tamaki's little sister, Aya, but he has no way of knowing so he doesn't bring it up


• The girl approaches him again, looking for her keychain, and he confronts her, asking if she is Aya - she confirms that she is by her actions and runs away again before Sougo can try and get Tamaki


• Sougo wrestles with himself for a long while about whether or not to tell Tamaki about meeting his sister - but Tamaki's early statements that he only became and idol to find her scare Sougo, making him think that Tamaki's recent good behavior would cease, he would ignore his work, and possibly leave IDOLiSH7 if he were to know that his sister had been found


• There is a long period of time where Sougo tries to decide if he can go to anyone for advice, but he is desperate not to cause any extra stress to anyone else in the group and so ends up deciding to just talk to Tamaki on their next day off together


• Before he can do that, however, Tamaki finds the keychain in Sougo's bag and recognizes it instantly - this results in a row between the two


• Sougo winds up breaking Tamaki's door in order to apologize to him


• He pretends to be part of the FSC to pass a message onto television to lure Tamaki's sister out - there is a tearful reunion, but Tamaki's sister ultimately goes back to where she was and Tamaki agrees to not quit MEZZO"


• Part 3


• MEZZO" gets a new acting manager, taking a good amount of stress off of Sougo


• When a fight breaks out between two of IDOLiSH7's members, Sougo's instincts are to chase after one of the departing members to try and reason with him, but he ultimately forces himself to stay in the dorms as leaving would leave three underage members alone in the house


• Sougo winds up taking the initiative of talking to others for the first time, trying to reconcile with the two estranged members, but keeps on getting rebuffed easily


• After the members have all made up, Sougo and Tamaki are signed on to start a music radio show


• They run into Torao Midou - a child of another rich businessman who Sougo knows from when he was being raised to take over his father's company - who needles at Sougo about his father looking older and how badly Sougo disappointed him


• After this, IDOLiSH7 and two other idol groups are tasked with setting up a theme song along with choreography and costumes for a 24-hour charity event


• During their setup for the charity event, Sougo sits in with Re:Vale's Yuki to watch him compose the song and Yuki tells Sougo that he should start composing his own music too


• After TRIGGER comes under fire by the media, Sougo speaks up about wanting to help them in some way and has the revelation, through a reassurance by Tamaki, that all he's ever wanted was for people to praise the things he likes


• When TRIGGER is taken hostage, all of IDOLiSH7 goes searching for them - Sougo works with Tamaki & Yamato to rescue Gaku, revealing that is skilled at kendo, chess, and picking up random objects (prop sword) to threaten people


• Shortly before IDOLiSH7 begins its 1-year anniversary tour, Sougo comes forward to Tamaki and the others about wanting to try composing a song for MEZZO"


• In an attempt to help TRIGGER overcome financial troubles, Sougo offers to increase their money, pointing out that he's been studying asset management since he was in elementary school


• Following this, TRIGGER asks him to talk to his estranged father about letting them use a concert hall owned by Sougo's family - through this, Sougo decides to try and face his parents properly, since he basically just ran away from home before


• Sougo puts together a literal thesis paper to explain to Tamaki why he would like to try and reconcile with his family, but ultimately says that if that would upset Tamaki then he doesn't want to do it - Tamaki finally understands and agrees to let Sougo meet with his parents as long as Tamaki can come along with him


• When Sougo and Tamaki go to meet with Sougo's father, the situation quickly escalates due to the Ousaka patriarch's unwillingness to listen to his own son - Sougo shrugs off a guard trying to remove him and his father decides to claim that Tamaki assaulted the guard and calls the police


• Having a prior commitment to host their radio show, Sougo's father lets him leave to host it, but holds Tamaki hostage, threatening him with arrest if Sougo doesn't come back and agree to stop being an idol


• During the radio show, Sougo decides to speak his feelings about music, crying the whole time - Tamaki and Sougo's father listen to the broadcast and Sougo's father decides to let Tamaki go and lend Sougo money to help TRIGGER out


• The 24-hour charity event starts with the members of IDOLiSH7 and Re:Vale figuring out the best ways to stop anything bad from happening, as they're expecting Tsukumo Productions and ZOOL to try to ruin the event


• In the end, they manage to get through the charity event without incident, thanks to everyone's hard work

❥ Personality:

• Polite: Having been raised to become the successor to a major CEO, Sougo's mannerisms are mostly polite and accommodating. His speech patterns are more formal and he is very adamant about his usage of honorifics and showing proper respect where it is required.


• Soft-spoken: Similarly, Sougo is a very soft-spoken sort of person. It takes a while for him to warm up to someone enough to actually say what he thinks and feels to them. Otherwise, he will be gentle about getting someone's attention to speak to them or just forego speaking to them entirely.


• Enthusiastic: When Sougo is interested in something or takes on a task, he goes at it full force. His passion for music, for example, reaches a level of 'otaku' proportions. He is a fan of all kinds of music genres, Western and Eastern alike. And if someone brings up a topic that he is knowledgeable and passionate about, Sougo will gladly talk about it as much as he can - often in ways that laymen couldn't possibly understand.


• Thorough: In addition to his enthusiasm, Sougo is a very thorough person who will make sure to see things through to the end. He doesn't do anything halfway and in fact gets anxious and uncomfortable if he can't complete things satisfactorily. Sometimes, he will even push these ideals onto others - most often Tamaki, who he tries very hard to be polite in work situations and stop sleeping in so much


• Hard-working: Not only is Sougo thorough with his work, he also works hard at it. He's the sort of person who doesn't feel comfortable relaxing when there are things that need to be done around the house, which is why he spends most of his off days cleaning, doing laundry, and tending to his garden. He likes to keep himself busy for the most part, and will always arrive early to appointments and put himself out there to help in any situations where volunteers are needed.


• Guarded: Because he was raised in an environment where his passions were frowned upon and even ridiculed and banned, Sougo has a hard time opening up to people. He will often keep his concerns to himself, even if he is getting so stressed that he can barely handle it anymore. This is the reason he wound up giving himself an ulcer in Part 1, as he couldn't bring himself to ask for help or confide in others.


• Repressed: In this same vein, Sougo has repressed a lot of who he is to try and protect himself from the backlash of his father. For example, in his home he was never allowed to get angry, so in everyday life his anger comes across as a cold, detached thing - which makes it all the more frightening. It takes a lot to make Sougo snap, but when he does it often involves things like breaking down a door with a screw gun, speaking threateningly while holding a knife, or attempting to bash someone's head in with a computer tower.


• Under The Influence: Of special note is Sougo's personality change while under the influence of alcohol. Sougo has a certain passion for alcoholic drinks, having often read up on the kinds of drinks his favorite artists would have regularly. As soon as he legally could, he started sampling different kinds of liquor, beer, and cocktails. The problem is that once he starts, he gets too excited to stop and ends up just completely smashed. When drinking, Sougo becomes desperate for contact and will seek out physical affection from anyone around him - ranging from snuggling and hugging to just resting his head on someone's lap. His regular inhibitions and manners also go completely out the window. He will whine for what he wants, force others to cuddle him or pay attention to him, and becomes much more vocal about his inner thoughts.

❥ Abilities:

• Singing & Dancing: As an idol, Sougo is a great singer and dancer. In fact, he is proficiently talented enough in both to be considered debut-worthy as of first signing up with IDOLiSH7.


• Cleanliness: Sougo likes to clean and he does a very good, thorough job at it too.


• Gardening: He also likes gardening and can raise plants from vegetables to flowers.


• Music Knowledge: Sougo is a music 'otaku' and has a wide range of knowledge about music from artists to recording labels to instruments themselves. He can play guitar and also a little bit of piano.


• Spice Tolerance: Spicy is the best food type in Sougo's opinion. When eating something plain like pizza, he will dump copious amounts of hot sauce on it before eating. Also, when he cooks his food is so spicy that the other members can barely eat it, though he claims that he's toned down the spices for them. In his opinion, when it hurts your tongue is when it tastes best.
